This academic building located within the heart of campus provides flexible instructional space for several disciplines with an emphasis on engineering to accommodate a projected 48 percent increase in engineering enrollment. The first and second floors consist of classrooms, teaching labs, and meeting rooms, while the third floor is primarily faculty office space. Level Three also includes a break room, a conference room, and an outdoor terrace.
The original manufacturer of the project’s tension canopy system exceeded the allowed budget, so we had to work with an alternate manufacturer. To ensure we could meet the unique design and installation requirements for the system, we requested a factory mock-up from the manufacturer. This allowed the design team and installation teams to view the system and determine proper installation techniques prior to fabrication and delivery, resulting in an error-free and expedited installation process.
