The Phase 2 Academic Building hosts large campus events and academic conferences providing a large multipurpose space, support space, smaller seminar rooms, a business center, campus bookstore, light food service, human resources office suite, and an office suite for the associate vice president of administration and auxiliary services. We also improved campus infrastructure, such as upgrading and expanding the campus central plant and a waste water treatment plant while maintaining service to all campus facilities.
An occupied campus dormitory utilized thermal lines that ran under our construction site. We could not disrupt power to the dormitory. To avoid delaying our utility installation, we collaborated with another general contractor who was completing construction of the university’s Phase One building only 20 feet from our site. We tied the existing dormitory into thermal output from that building which allowed us to begin foundation work and install utilities as scheduled, while keeping the dormitory operational.
