Status: Completed
This building set the national benchmark for petroleum educational facilities, featuring an upstream research center, fracturing and production laboratory, reservoir and drilling simulation center, and natural resources pressure volume temperature laboratory. The building includes faculty and administrative offices, conference rooms, classrooms, a library, and integrated petroleum engineering laboratories. The building visually demonstrates engineering concepts by exposing ceilings, color-coded piping, and interior glazing at the numerous lab spaces, mechanical rooms, pump rooms, electrical rooms, and elevator shafts.
Because of it benchmark status, the new facility’s appearance was heavily scrutinized. To ensure we met the Owner’s expectations, we constructed a complete section of the building exterior, from its cast stone bases to its roof tiles. The Owner examined portions of the mock-up to make final color and material selections. We also built window assembly mock-ups to review actual installation sequences and procedures, and to perform initial water testing of the flashing details.
