The facility includes updated elevator lobbies with student lounges on each floor. Level 1 features offices, testing space, common study rooms, a large multipurpose room, and a 250-seat auditorium. Level 2 houses four 120-seat capacity classrooms and two 60-seat capacity classrooms. Levels 3 and 4 include faculty offices, lounges, and conference rooms. We built a learning resource center in the basement with secured underground parking, and added MEP systems, an emergency generator, and four new air handling units.
The design included four 3,000 SF classrooms on Level 2 with high ceilings. We laser scanned the facility to identify existing conditions. When overlaying the design onto actual conditions, we discovered the existing structure was shorter than previously known, forcing the duct work, electrical, telecom/data, and other overhead services into a smaller area, which created multiple conflicts. Our early model aided the design teams redesign to fit the building systems above ceiling while accommodating the design.
