Project Overview

This renovation involved two buildings. In the Mitte Building, we renovated existing classrooms, offices, photo labs/dark rooms, and art galleries, and built out new digital photo processing labs, dark rooms, sound recording rooms, lecture rooms, and offices. In the Sabinal Building, we gutted the existing interior and built back classrooms, computer labs, seminar/lecture rooms, offices, and updated restrooms. We also updated the entrances, replaced the roof, and replaced the MEP systems.

Unique Challenge

The Mitte Building renovations involved 20,000 SF spread across four floors, which we had to complete over the summer break. We assigned a dedicated superintendent for each floor to expedite the schedules and resolve any issues. Each primary trade contractor also had a separate crew per floor in the building, which essentially allowed us to operate as if we had three independent and simultaneous projects. This approach resulted in a successful completion for the fall semester.
