The new facility includes wet and dry research laboratories, a small animal/rodent vivarium, classrooms, teaching laboratories, study areas, seminar rooms, multimedia learning and associated student learning spaces, collaborative areas to support team-based activities, and faculty and administrative offices. The building supports and houses the academic and research initiatives for the University of North Texas System College of Pharmacy, as well as the North Texas Eye Research Institute, and the Institute for Molecular Diagnostic and Therapeutic Development.
This project included two large sterilizers with extremely long lead times. To continue constructing the surrounding areas, we used BIM to model the sterilizers and route them through the building to determine the best installation path and to determine which items we needed to leave out to put the sterilizers in place. This process saved us a massive amount of time, and we installed the sterilizers with no installation delays or rework.
