The first such facility at a Texas community college, the bioscience incubator offers students hands on learning opportunities with state-of-the-art facilities. Students have the opportunity to intern with participating companies, learn state of art techniques, and assist researchers in growing the central Texas talent pool. The space includes clean rooms, wet laboratories, a specialty laboratory, and associated storage. We also added generators and air handling units to support the laboratories.
Because the AHU equipment was complex, it had a long lead period. This could have created an issue for the dry-in phase to proceed with interior finishes and electrical gear startup. We worked with the facility maintenance personnel to develop a plan to use the existing HVAC system for temporary conditioning. As part of this plan, we confirmed the existing system's capacity and ensured that there were no negative effects to the adjacent spaces.
