Victory Center’s first floor is dedicated to support services for veteran students including a career center, conference rooms, mentorship and tutoring spaces, and administrative offices with support spaces. The atrium entry features touch-screen interactive directories, a coffee bar, and seating for students awaiting assistance from administrative personnel. The second floor consists of a study lounge, private or open study rooms, and classrooms with operable partitions, glass projection screens, and state-of-the art retractable projectors.
Due to budget constraints, we needed to remove $300,000 from the project scope. During design document review, we assisted the Owner and design team with cost reduction ideas such as using glazed block instead of exterior wall tile, reducing the number of aluminum sunshades, using plaster/stucco in lieu of brick at exterior elevations, replacing wood ceiling with acoustical ceiling in the lobby, and installing a less expensive elevator. Our efforts recovered the budget with $30,000 in savings.
