Project Overview

The Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center is a nonprofit organization that cares for child victims of domestic abuse or violent crime. The Center’s existing location needed capacity, necessitating additional space for crisis services. The new Children’s Advocacy Center facility includes medical examination and counseling service areas, interview rooms, office space, a multipurpose meeting room, and an outdoor play area. This expansion coincides with renovating the existing facility to include new flooring, furniture, and a therapy garden.

Unique Challenge

The interior space of the building was similar to a warehouse build-out with high, open ceilings and lower grid ceilings. The Owner requested that the space between ceilings remain clear of pipe, hangers, supports, and wires. Our team initiated a fire sprinkler system redesign and engineered ceiling superstructure to be supported from over-the-grid ceilings. These two efforts were expected to be costly and with heavy coordination. However, our team pursued the redesign to ensure the project had minimal schedule and budget impacts.
