We constructed the city’s new police headquarters on a 12-acre greenfield site. The 64,000 SF, two-story operations building houses police dispatch, record storage, and administrative spaces for patrol officers, detectives, and executives. We also constructed an 11,000 SF, single-story pre-engineered metal building which includes spaces for SWAT operations and training, a workout facility, vehicle storage, and additional evidence storage. The new headquarters doubles the police department’s available space while leaving room for growth.
The project was built over an area that had previously been a borrow pit for another project. The pit was so large, it would have required over 100,000 yards of fill to raise the grade high enough to construct the building. We suggested shifting the building on the site and modifying the proposed grades. This solution reduced the amount of fill needed to 30,000 yards and saved approximately $100,000.
