Project Overview

The new campus consolidates TxDOT’s administration functions, which were previously housed in several locations across the Austin area. The 50-acre campus includes a five-story, 425,000 SF administration building; a six-level, 548,000 SF cast-in-place parking garage for 1,586 vehicles; a two-story, 13,000 SF central utility plant; a one-story, 145,000 SF warehouse building for TxDOT’s road sign print shop; and a one-story, 74,000 SF laboratory building.

Unique Challenge

Our team determined the natural creek dividing this project site is a protected waterway under the "Waters of the United States (WOTUS)" Clean Water Act classification. To meet WOTUS requirements and protect the area, we implemented stormwater pollution prevention measures to prevent debris and run-off from flooding the creek. When we observed stormwater run-off from the nearby detention ponds eroding the creek banks, we further enhanced the stormwater drainage design to slow water flow.
