Project Overview

This new two-story building is used to recruit and train veterinary students to serve the Texas Panhandle livestock industries. It features biosafety level (BSL)-2 research laboratories and BSL-2 teaching laboratories. It also includes waste sterilization, glassware washing, cooler and freezer storage areas, administrative offices, separate client and employee/guest entrances, conference and meeting spaces, and break rooms. VERO is attached to the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory, which Vaughn constructed concurrently.

Unique Challenge

During constructability reviews, we discovered a substantial clash between the HVAC trunk lines and a major structural beam. We attacked this major mechanical revision, by re-engineering our air handling unit to have two supply openings. We split the main supply trunk around the beam and re-combined the line. Our creative solution during the design process ensured the project schedule remained on track.
