Collin College’s new 70-acre Celina Campus is comprised of two buildings. The buildings contain administrative offices, laboratories, and classrooms for courses in business management, computer-aided drafting and design, information technology, and health professions. The first building is three stories, and connects via a breezeway to the second building, which is three-and-a-half stories. Both buildings are steel structures with a masonry and metal panel envelope, wood soffits, and cast stone features. Two large north and south-facing curtain walls face the breezeway which is supported by 24-foot columns.
While excavating the campus to install underground utilities, we discovered a thick, contiguous layer of gray shell rock which our MEP contractors could not excavate without proper equipment. However, our earthworks contractors had the expertise and heavy machinery to efficiently complete this task. They cut through the layer of rock for the MEP contractors, saving approximately eight weeks on the schedule.
