The project consisted of a 305,000 SF professional building to house multiple sub-specialties under one roof. At 50,000 SF, the simulation center is one of the largest in the United States and includes operating rooms, specialty patient rooms, and a clinical skills center equipped with robotics. The fourth through ninth floors house medical clinics in which students will perform their residencies. We also constructed an 834-space, 425,500 SF attached parking garage.
To prepare the site, we had to implode the existing St. Paul's Hospital. But first we had to demolish the service utility connections from the existing central plant that were serving other buildings. Through multiple enabling projects we separated the buildings to function stand alone. We also prepped the central plant for future expansion and prepped other buildings so when the new plant is built, they can remove the rooftop chillers and connect without interruption of services.
