The first building on the University of North Texas (UNT)’s new Frisco campus, this four-story academic building houses a variety of classrooms, study and social spaces, and collaborative spaces. The building features high-end materials, including 45,000 SF of polished terrazzo flooring, 30,000 SF of slatted wood ceilings, and 13 different types of ceilings, as well as extensive audio/visual equipment in all the classrooms and collaborative spaces. We also installed new site utilities and constructed a 125-foot monumental bell tower and 200-space surface parking lot.
We needed to complete the building’s roof to reach dry-in and install sensitive interior components without risking weather damage. However, the AHUs we needed to install in the penthouse of the building were delayed and postponing dry-in would delay the interior scope of work. We installed temporary roofing to meet the dry-in milestone. This approach allowed our team to move forward with interior work without risking damage or causing delays. When the AHUs arrived, we lowered them through holes cut in the temporary roof and replaced the temporary roofing with the final product.
