We upgraded the infrastructure of this seven-story library, which opened in 1990. Our work included waterproofing repairs, partial renovation of the architecture, HVAC upgrades, new electrical, and new data infrastructure. The goal of the project was to create a state-of-the-art facility featuring the latest technology available to support students and faculty in their quest for knowledge, as well as to accommodate the future building capacity and improvements.
The building remained operational throughout construction so electrical service could not be interrupted. Working with the electrical trade contractor, we proposed utilizing a buss duct system between the main electrical distribution’s medium voltage transformer and the main switch board’s new location. This approach improved the equipment’s routing path avoiding multiple penetrations in the concrete walls, preventing rerouting of existing infrastructure, and saving time and money on component installation. We activated the electrical service during Christmas break.
