The university’s 106,000 SF Engineering Classroom and Research Building (ENCARB) overlooks PVAMU’s enthralling farmlands. Nearly two-thirds of the square footage is designated for direct instruction, with six general classrooms and 14 instructional labs for chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, and civil engineering. The remaining third of the facility is dedicated to engineering research by faculty and graduate students. The research area includes wet labs, labs for smart manufacturing of materials, devices, and sensors, and computational labs.
While working on the project, we encountered electrical issues and needed to complete a power switchover. One of the buildings on the campus had a critical 40-year-old research project that could not operate without power. We used a temporary generator to provide enough power to keep the building fully operational and with minimal disturbances.
