Client: Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital
Architect: EYP
Location: Sugar Land, TX
Delivery: Construction Manager-at-Risk
Status: Completed
This women's center expansion added three C-section rooms, three recovery bays, a seven-bay trauma NICU, a 14-bay open nursery, eight private continuing care NICU rooms, four continuing care NICU bays, 18 labor and delivery rooms, and 36 post-partum rooms. Support space includes a new breast care center with three ultrasound rooms, a stereotactic room, and seven mammography rooms. It seamlessly connects to other buildings on campus via a new staff corridor.
The facility remained fully occupied and operational for the duration of construction, which occurred in three phases. The renovation of the staff corridor on level one was scheduled to run the entire length of phase one. When the Owner’s requested we complete the level one staff corridor and the entire first phase of the project early, we teamed up with our subcontractors and devised a plan. We split shifts and delivered ahead of our contractual substantial completion date.
