The Sunnyside Health and Multi-Service Center, a 57,000 SF community center, assists the City of Houston with senior services, mental health services, family planning, and recovery programs.
Two patient room towers and a central plant make up the complex. The facility's personnel areas also include instructional areas, nurse stations, break rooms, offices, and a pharmacy. The entire facility was built with patient safety, staff productivity, and workflow in mind. To ensure that the patients are in a secure and protected environment, anti-ligature components were used in all the patient spaces.
We were informed that one portion of the roofing materials would not be available until six months after the roof was needing to be installed. With the help of our roofer, we discussed several options – including a temporary roof – and looked at alternative options with the design team. After ordering new materials, the roofing was able to be promptly installed as originally planned.
