The 56,000 SF LBJ Early College High School accommodates the growing student body, modernizes learning spaces, and adds spaces specifically designed for the new health sciences program. Located within the LBJ Early College High School, the newly added Health Professions School provides students with the opportunity to study the health science field and apply their skills in a local teaching hospital, while also learning core high school curriculum so students graduate with their high school diploma and health industry certifications.
The original school was built in 1972 and required extensive modernization. We converted the existing library into a state-of-the-art, two-story media resource center. The new center includes presentation rooms, student work rooms, a radio studio, a tech studio, and a “genius” technical support bar. We built extensive health simulation spaces for the Health Professions School on the first floor, including a dental lab, clinical lab, trauma/ICU lab, and operating room lab. In the trauma/ICU spaces, we constructed headwalls with simulated medical gases and systems, and added a variety of functional clinical equipment, such as ECG machines, portable x-rays, and ventilators.
