Project Overview

This emergency medical services training campus features a 39,000 SF training center with offices, wet labs for lifelike simulations, and meeting space. An 8,600 SF wireless communications building houses the county’s vehicle radio system maintenance division. A 5,200 SF vehicle inspection building includes two drive-through bays large enough to dismantle and search suspect vehicles to support Sheriff’s Department investigations. The campus also features multiple storage and fueling facilities for the county’s road and bridge department.

Unique Challenge

The waterproofing design detailed stainless steel flashing installed with a positive slope toward the exterior of the building at the base of every masonry wall. However, the design did not include sloping of masonry lugs needed to push water out of the wall cavity. Fortunately, during our quality control mock-up, we discovered the required flashing slope was not being achieved due to flat installations of the masonry lugs. We corrected the design before pouring the buildings.
