We built out four family law courtrooms on the 16th floor of the 20-story Civil Justice Center, previously constructed by Vaughn. Our scope included wood millwork wall paneling, cabinetry, judge’s benches, and jury boxes. The corridors feature stone cladding, terrazzo flooring, access flooring to accommodate audio and visual systems, custom glass-fiber reinforced gypsum ceilings, and nine-foot tall soundproof wood doors. We renovated the four spaces around active courtrooms that could not tolerate disruption.
For Level 16, we had to install underfloor plumbing for new break rooms and new restrooms serving the public and private judge’s chambers. We had to access the plumbing, as well as above ceiling electrical from the private judge’s chambers on Level 15 below. We ensured continued operations of all courtrooms alongside our construction by performing noisy activities on weekends and off hours from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. This work schedule minimized noise complaints or halted work.
