Baylor University celebrated the opening of its new 112,000 SF home for the Louise Herrington School of Nursing. The newly renovated four-story facility features a soaring, light-infused grand entry with floor to ceiling windows, marble columns, and a monumental open-concept stair that rises from the basement to Level Four. Level One is comprised of offices, testing space, common study rooms, a large multipurpose room, and a 250-seat auditorium to host speaking events. Level Two is entirely devoted to teaching, with four 120-seat capacity classrooms and two 60-seat capacity classrooms. Levels Three and Four include faculty offices and lounges, and multiple conference rooms of varying sizes. The students have 24/7 access to a learning resource center located in the basement, connected to secured underground parking. In addition to the comprehensive finish upgrades, Vaughn refurbished the elevators, upgraded the MEP systems, and installed four new air handling units and a new emergency generator. The finished facility was praised by numerous speakers during the dedication ceremony for its state-of-the-art amenities and spaciousness; coined as a “jewel” for Baylor University. The project was recognized with a Distinguished Building Award - Education Facilities $10-30 Million by TEXO. Beck Architecture was the design firm. Learn more about this project.
