Williamson County Children's Advocacy Center recently celebrated the grand opening of its 15,000 SF facility, for which Vaughn served as construction manager-at-risk. WCCAC is a nonprofit organization that cares for child victims of domestic abuse or violent crime.
The Center’s existing location needed additional capacity, necessitating space for crisis services. The new Children’s Advocacy Center facility includes medical examination and counseling service areas, interview rooms, office space, a multipurpose meeting room, and an outdoor play area. Vaughn’s scope of work also included site access, parking, landscaping, and drainage pond modifications.
Kerrie Stannell, chief executive officer of WCCAC, thanked those in attendance for their tireless devotion to the WCCAC’s mission of supporting children who have survived abuse, trauma, or other crimes. Stannell elaborated on the project, stating it was made possible with the help of multiple agencies, such as the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, multiple city chambers of commerce, and Williamson County.
“It was inspiring to have so many people show up to the ceremony,” Stannell said. “We have had great investments from the county, law enforcement, and our District Attorney. It was meaningful to have this fantastic facility be able to serve families in such a better way.”
Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick said crimes against children are some of the cases that most often come through his office. He said the expanded resources of WCAAC will be a light to even more children and families often going through an incredibly difficult time.
