Austin Independent School District celebrated a groundbreaking ceremony for the 54,221 SF Martin Middle School modernization project, for which Vaughn serves as construction manager-at-risk. The project, part of a 2022 bond election, will revitalize the learning environment through a comprehensive interior refresh across two floors and deliver exterior site improvements.
Representatives from Martin Middle School, Vaughn, AECOM, O’Connell Robertson, Lake Flato, and other distinguished community members attended the ceremony.
City Council Member Jose Velasquez, a Martin Middle School alum, highlighted the project's potential. “This is the start of transforming Martin into an innovative, modernized campus that will provide flexibility in a hands-on learning environment, helping educate our students for generations to come."
“We are excited about getting this project started,” said a Vaughn project engineer. “Knowing that the community will benefit from a space that inspires learning and supports student success makes all the hard work worthwhile. We are proud to be part of building a brighter future for Martin Middle School.”
The modernization project is one of 25 planned for AISD schools, with the first phase expected to be completed by 2027.
