The University of Texas at Austin’s new Engineering Discovery Building project recently celebrated the topping out milestone for which Vaughn serves as construction manager-at-risk. The 210,000 SF building supports research for the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering and the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering.
After two years of preconstruction, demolition, and complex site work, the topping-out milestone provided a well-earned moment for the Vaughn project team to celebrate their significant achievement with a celebratory lunch.
“I studied engineering at UT Austin, so to be able to come back to my alma mater to build a new engineering building is incredibly special,” said a Vaughn project engineer. “Having experienced the impact of modern engineering buildings as a student, I understand the significance of this project. Contributing to UT Austin's ambition to become a world-leading public research university and knowing our work will empower future engineers is incredibly fulfilling. This project exemplifies Vaughn's commitment to building what matters.”
The building is slated to reach substantial completion in 2026.
We look forward to sharing more as the project progresses!
