Alamo College Northwest Vista Campus Celebrates Esperanza Veterans Center Grand Opening

Alamo Colleges Northwest Vista College (NVC) recently celebrated the grand opening of the 7,000 SF Esperanza Veterans Center, the first building on campus dedicated to serving the college’s growing student veteran population. The single-story facility includes academic advising, career counseling, mental health support, and access to a dog park and amenities for service animals.

Dr. Amy Bosley, NVC president, emphasized the necessity of the building. According to Dr. Bosley, the military and veteran community have been integral to NVC since its inception in 1995. NVC leaders were eager to create a space dedicated to supporting veteran students.

“The center will help veterans transition back into civilian life,” said Texas State Senator Jose Menendez, who spoke at the grand opening ceremony. “What I love about the [center] is that it is not just academic counsel. It is where [veterans] could get help with their disability forms, and where they could get help with life issues, mental health, and counseling.”

“We are proud to have played a role in this important initiative,” said  Vaughn’s project manager. “The new facility will provide our nation’s veterans with the academic resources they need to succeed. It is a privilege to know that our work played a part in helping our veterans achieve their educational goals.”
