Texas A&M University Galveston Breaks Ground on Infrastructure, Dock Improvements, and Ship FF&E Phase I Project

Texas A&M University Galveston recently broke ground on its Infrastructure, Dock Improvements, and Ship FF&E Phase I project.

The new central plant is key to both immediate and longer-term master plan growth and improvements on the campus and will help anchor a partially developed corner of the campus.

Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp, Texas A&M University Interim President Mark A. Welsh, Texas Senator Mayes Middleton, Texas Representative Terri Leo-Wilson, and Texas Representative Greg Bonnen provided remarks at the ceremony.

“We don’t normally do groundbreaking ceremonies for central plants, but this one lays the foundation for the delivery of the new maritime academy training ship and the future of this campus,” said John Sharp, chancellor of Texas A&M University Galveston. “The central plant will provide the services they need for the future dock for the new maritime training vessel and campus expansion.”

This project is slated to reach substantial completion in December 2024.
