The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UT Southwestern) recently hosted a virtual topping-out ceremony for its new Brain Institute & Cancer Center. The event was livestreamed through UT Southwestern’s website. It featured a timelapse video of the construction’s progress and montages of staff celebrating the new facility. The $329 million clinical and research facility will support the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center and Peter O’Donnell Jr. Brain Institute. Through these hubs of patient treatment and research, the university will triple its cancer care capacity with new spaces for multidisciplinary care, genetic counseling, clinical trials, supportive care, and private treatment rooms. The project is slated to reach substantial completion in June 2022. EYP is the architect.
