Vaughn was selected as the construction manager-at-risk for the $14 million Baylor University, Tidwell Bible Building Renovation project. The iconic Tidwell Bible Building opened in 1954 as a testament to the impact of Rev. Josiah Blake Tidwell, who taught religion for 36 years and served as chair of Baylor's Department of Religion in the early 1900s.
For more than 60 years the Tidwell Bible Building has served tens of thousands of Baylor students as the home for the history and religion departments. Renovations are critical to preserve this historical building’s beauty and improve its effectiveness. The renovation will improve infrastructure, expand and enhance academic instruction by modernizing the learning environment to encourage collaboration and interaction between faculty, colleagues and students. The building program includes a new 5,500 SF mezzanine, office suites, student spaces, meeting spaces and classrooms. The building’s stained-glass windows and the limestone carvings will be preserved, but the chapel will be repurposed. The renovation is set to begin in May 2020 with substantial completion in May 2021. The architect is RBDR.
