Lamar University recently celebrated the grand opening of the new Science and Technology Building in Beaumont, Texas. As the first entirely academic building constructed in nearly 40 years, the state-of-the-art, interdisciplinary research facility brings together a diverse range of disciplines in a collaborative and innovative space. Vaughn served as the construction manager-at-risk on the 85,000 SF, $48.7 million facility, which features instructional laboratories and interdisciplinary flex research laboratories across all disciplines, including organic and wet chemistry, cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, computation, and engineering. In addition, the building includes an innovative “maker’s space,” multipurpose space, faculty offices, a senior leadership suite, several student study spaces, and associated building support spaces.
