Brazos County recently selected Vaughn Construction as construction manager-at-risk to design and construct a new Medical Examiner's Office in Bryan, Texas. The 20,00 SF, single-story facility will serve Brazos County and counties within a 100-mile radius. The County will now have the ability to expedite forensic investigations and medical examinations in-house to better serve families in their greatest time of need. Additionally, the building will serve as a training space for law enforcement and other related fields.
The building is located on a newly acquired 11-acre greenfield site and will meet Brazos County’s current and future needs. County leaders said the Medical Examiner’s Office is long overdue. “It is a priority for the region and certainly for the county…we needed to get it done and under contract [as soon as possible],” said Brazos County Judge Duane Peters.
The facility will include offices for up to nine full-time employees with room for expansion, dedicated examination rooms, restrooms, a break room, conference/training areas, and other necessary spaces.
Vaughn’s proven track record with county offices was key to securing this win. “Our experience building a morgue for Harris County in Houston demonstrated our capabilities in designing and constructing similar specialized facilities,” a Vaughn project manager shared. “We are excited to work with Brazos County on this new project.”
We look forward to sharing more as the project progresses.
