We are excited to announce that the Dynamic One building at TMC Helix Park recently reached its highest peak. Dynamic One, for which Vaughn Construction serves as the construction manager-at-risk, is the first of four industry sites to be developed by Beacon Capital Partners and will support research and innovation in the healthcare field.
Commemorating the topping out with a tree-raising ceremony, where a tree is placed on top of the structure to symbolize growth and bring good luck, is a construction industry tradition. The Dynamic One building's celebration added a festive flair to this old custom. Our project team decided to get in the holiday spirit and adorn the building with a Christmas tree.
But the festivities did not end there - the project team and craft workers gathered alongside Vaughn leadership for a special luncheon and raffle to celebrate the topping out. Among the attendees was Vaughn Construction's CEO, Danny Thompson, who explained why Vaughn celebrates this milestone. "The topping out celebration is for the people who put the work in to get the building to this stage. This is our way of saying, ‘Thank you for the work you’ve done. We have a long way to go to complete the project, but thank you for where you’ve gotten us so far.’”
When completed, Dynamic One will boast two 12-story, multi-tenant towers filled with research labs, office space, and shared common areas for pharmaceutical firms, biotech companies, and other ecosystem partners.
These research and innovation efforts will have lasting implications for our community, and our team views this project as an important opportunity to support the people who make new discoveries. The Vaughn assistant project manager shared, “I just think [this campus] will be a major help for the city, for TMC, for everybody in this area and even around the world.”
The Vaughn project manager for the Industry Building project echoed this sentiment, and he explained that this isn’t Vaughn’s first time supporting the innovators of the healthcare industry. “This project is a continuation of all the hard work Vaughn has done in the Texas Medical Center,” he said. “We have touched most of the buildings at the main campus and now are fortunate enough to be a part of the new TMC Helix Park campus.”
We look forward to sharing more information as the project progresses.
