On August 16, Texas State University officially broke ground on its new $7 million, 10,000 SF Live Oak Studios Building, for which Vaughn is the construction manager-at-risk. The event’s speakers included university president Denise M. Trauth, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Eugene J. Bourgeois, and Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication Dr. John Fleming. The new one-story building will provide much-needed space to meet the growing enrollment demands for film and media studies. Its teaching labs and specialized instruction spaces for film, television, video production, sound technologies, and sports media will help prepare students for the vibrant independent film communities in nearby Austin and San Antonio. The School of Journalism and Mass Communication will have its first dedicated sound stage and television studio, equipped with green screen technology, full surround sound capabilities, and an isolation sound recording booth. Substantial completion is scheduled for May 2022. The architect is Lawrence Group.
